Internationally renowned French choreographer Nina Bussion took the foundation of a recent work, Chambre Noir, and expanded it for Houston Met. Originally a duet created for her company Nina Buisson Contemporary Move, she added a second and third act for the company that highlights its soaring, athletic and technically precise style.

Houston Met resident choreographer Kiki Lucas has expanded Imbalanced, Detrimental, Overbearing Thoughts from a work in development which was performed at QuirkyWorks VI this past fall. Lucas' work explores the cacophony of thoughts we can't turn off in our heads and the impact it has on our lives.

Not Yet Soaring (still confronting the ground) is a new work set on Houston Met by Houston Met Too Director jhon r. stronks. His choreography is a dance of transformation as the dancers make a mad dash towards inner peace.

Founded in 1995, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, familiarly known as "Houston Met", embraces a comprehensive dance style that fuses the dance idioms of contemporary dance, jazz, tap and ballet. The company is committed to commissioning new works by internationally renowned and emerging choreographers as well as nurturing the creative talent from within the company.
